The Book Report

The book that im reading is called "Things fall apart" by Chinua Achebe, and in that book the main character whose name is Okonkwo is a legendary man in his tribe. He is viewed as one of the best wrestlers through out his village, and despite his father who is a very lazy man, Okonkwo is a very discipline rich and highy respected man.

Now since Okonkwo was very respected in his village he was set responsible for watching a kid named lkemefuna who was kidnapped from another tribe to settle a peace treaty. While living with Okonkwo, lkemefuna became like a son to him but sadly enough the boy had to be killed because thats what the elders wanted. They Okonkwo not to be involved with the murder since him and the child was so close, but since Okonkwo didn't want to show weakness to the tribe he killed the boy himself.

After the death of lkemefuna Okonkwo started bugging out and killed a man accidently at a ceremonial ritual funeral. Then he was sent into exile. While he was in exile white people began to come and takeover and slowly began to inflict there religion upon the village.

Then when Okonkwo came back from exile and seen that the white people were changing his peoples culture and insulting his gods, he and other tribal leaders began to burn down a christian church. The white government then began to imprison Okonkwo and the tribal leaders for a short while. When they were set free Okonkwo began set up a village meeting that could finally bring back his tribe but a white messenger came and tried to break it up leaving Okonkwo to kill him. He knew there was no hope for his village once they let the other messengers escape so from then on he refused to ever get caught by the white government again. Later the government came to Okonkwos house to take him to trail but they found out he killed himself, which in his culture was considered the lowest thing to do.
